When implementing family engagement approaches, school systems should respect and honor the unique history and traditions of people from African-decent and be culturally sensitive and culturally affirming in a manner that promotes student learning. This session will include an introduction to the Pyramid of Success for Black Children, which includes life goals, the necessary child characteristics, and how institutional, instructional, and personal practices within education systems can help African American children develop essential characteristics to become successful in school and throughout life.
